Meetings

The below information will give you an idea of the structure of the majority of meetings.
The Chairman of the evening will open the meeting at 7.15pm
They will run through the evening’s programme and advise of any changes
The session will start with a round-robin warm-up and each member will be asked to speak for about a minute on a subject.
Following the round-robin, The first speaker will be called to the lectern to deliver their prepared speech.
Following the first speech, the topics chairman for the evening will ask a member to come to the lectern and speak on a subject for two minutes, this will be impromptu.
After the topic, the first speaker will be evaluated and constructive feedback is given.
The second speaker will be called to the lectern to deliver their prepared speech.
Following the second speech, the topics chairman for the evening will ask a member to come to the lectern and speak on a subject for two minutes, this will be impromptu.
After the topic, the second speaker will be evaluated and constructive feedback is given.
Following the second evaluation, there will be a 15-minute refreshment break.
The Chairman will call order and invite announcements.
Following the announcements, there will be an impromptu topics knock-out competition, where two or three members will have to speak on an item for 3 minutes.
The third speaker will be called to the lectern to deliver their prepared speech.
Following the third speech, the topics chairman for the evening will ask a member to come to the lectern and speak on a subject for two minutes, this will be impromptu.
After the topic, the third speaker will be evaluated and constructive feedback is given.
The final speaker will be called to the lectern to deliver their prepared speech.
Following the final speech, the topics chairman for the evening will ask a member to come to the lectern and speak on a subject for two minutes, this will be impromptu.
After the topic, the final speaker will be evaluated and constructive feedback is given.

The Chairman will then call the general evaluator for the evening to give his feedback on the overall meeting.
Following the general evaluation, the chairman will close the meeting.
