Club members end the year with Just a Minute

The second half of the last meeting in 2018 saw our members wind down with a friendly competition based on Just a Minute. Members had to speak for 60 seconds without hesitation, repetition or deviation from the subject which were all based around popular TV programmes.

Our thanks to Andrew for organising and chairing the competition which ensured members left the meeting full of seasonal cheer!

Invitation from Cardiff Speakers Club

Open meeting at Cardiff Masonic Hall at 7pm Thursday 29th January 2015

Would you like to improve your skills when speaking to an audience?

Making speeches, presentations, recitations, vote of thanks?

How effective is your body language?  Are you great at memorising presentations? Do you know the best way to use notes, pause in the right places, speak (and pause) at the correct pace?

The best way to improve your speaking performance is no secret – you just need to practice!  And the best place to practice is at Cardiff Speakers Club.

On Thursday 29th January, the club will hold an open meeting at Cardiff Masonic Hall where potential members will be able to experience the benefits of being involved with the Association of Speakers Clubs.  Ladies and gentlemen of all ages are welcome.

The men’s club meets once a fortnight on Cyncoed Rd and is a great opportunity to try out your public speaking in a friendly, supportive group who are all there because they also wish to improve their public speaking skills.  No matter how experienced (or not) you are, Cardiff Speakers Club has something for you.  Our sister club, Cardiff Mixed Club meet at 7pm on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at the Deri Inn in Rhiwbina.

The Cardiff Speakers Club programme includes:

  • Making a start
  • Dealing with nerves
  • Mean what you say
  • Speech construction
  • Use of gestures
  • Use your voice
  • Vocabulary and word pictures
  • The use of notes
  • The use of humour
  • Audience rapport
